Vic: Young man to be operated on after machete attack

Doctors will operate later today on a man who staggered into a luxury Melbourne hotel with
eight stab wounds after a gang attack.

The 26-year-old from south-east suburban Mulgrave was left with a slashed chest, back and
arms after being attacked with a machete early this morning.

An ambulance spokeswoman says he was rushed to St Vincent's Hospital in a critical but
stable condition after staggering into a lobby of the Hyatt on Collins Hotel and collapsing.

Detectives believe three men and a woman, all of Asian appearance, are responsible for the
attack in Melbourne Place, near Bourke Street.
